About us:
Morisset Hospital provides extended care Mental Health Rehabilitation to consumers under the Mental Health Act and the Forensic Mental Health Act with a focus on developing skills and building resilience.

The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services at Morisset Hospital is currently collaborating on the design phase for a new facility build in the Maitland area, where it is planned that the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services will relocate in 2027.

About the role:
The position will provide direct Dietetic interventions to Mental Health consumers based on the Morisset site and determine a prioritised approach to nutrition care. The position will assess and address clinical risks associated with treating psychosis, disordered eating, malnutrition, swallowing difficulties, diabetes and assist with strategies and practices that help consumers to improve their eating behaviours and dietary intake. This position will assume a lead role for Food Services at Morisset.

The classification for this position is Level 3, however if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 Allied Health Professionals will be considered with appointment at the level commensurate with the applicant’s years of experience. The selection criteria reflect the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3.

This role works closely within a multi-disciplinary team, including NUMS, CNE, CNC, Medical Officers and Allied Health staff. This position is supported by the NM5 at Morisset Hospital and the Head of Discipline Nutrition and Dietetics. Ongoing education and training opportunities are encouraged.

About you:
The successful applicant will be a passionate and knowledgeable clinician, with a strong focus on collaboration, person centred care and holistic care planning. This position requires the successful applicant to be able to achieve positive patient outcomes whilst working independently and also within a team.

Requirements:
  • Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in nutrition and dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia.
  • Eligible to drive in NSW.
