An exciting opportunity exists for Dietitian Assistants is available to join our district's Short Term Staff pool. The successful incumbent will assist in the provision of optimal nutritional care (working closely with the guidance of a Clinical Dietitian) to all patients in wards assigned to them and act as a liaison between the Dietetics Department, nursing, and food service personnel. In this position, you will ensure patients receive suitable meals, malnutrition screening, and refer any 'at risk' patients to the Clinical Dietitian for further nutritional assessment and intervention.
The Dietitian Assistant will be responsible for obtaining daily patient menu selections, entering menu selections into computer system, meal tray-line supervision, malnutrition screening and documentation, and ensuring meal and mid-meal accuracy.

What you will bring to the role:
- Dietary Practices Certificate or Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) or equivalent, or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge and understanding of NSW-wide therapeutic diets, with experience using them in a hospital setting an advantage
- Proven ability to provide consistently good levels of customer service to hospital patients
- Demonstrated evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience within multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and independently, while managing a high paced and high volume workload
- High level computer skills in a wide variety of applications/programs, including experience with Diet Office/Food service IT systems
- Skills, knowledge and experience in food safety
- Current NSW driver’s licence, or equivalent
