We are currently recruiting for both a Permanent Full-Time and a Temporary Full-Time (3-year contract) DevOps Engineer positions, while also establishing an eligibility list for potential future vacancies within NSW Health Pathology.
In this dynamic role, you’ll collaborate with clinicians, scientists, and business leaders to deliver agile, impactful solutions that improve real-world patient outcomes. From designing and implementing complex business systems to enhancing our DevOps capabilities, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our technology solutions are sustainable, secure, and cutting-edge.
We operate more than 60 laboratories and around 200 collection centres across NSW and conduct over 60 million tests per annum. Our network of pathologists are supported by scientists, technicians and support staff who quickly and accurately assess samples so clinical teams can make the best possible treatment decisions for patients. Our Forensic & Analytical Science Service provides independent, objective analysis to the NSW criminal and coronial justice systems.

What you'll be doing
Collaborate with clinicians, scientists, and business professionals to drive the sustainable and innovative application of new technologies that improve health outcomes, including but not limited to, designing, implementing, and maintaining DevOps pipelines to support continuous integration, delivery, and deployment; automating infrastructure and application provisioning using modern tools and best practices; and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver scalable, high-performance systems. This role also focuses on enhancing system reliability, monitoring, and incident response processes, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
- Demonstrated experience working across a range of web, server, database, mobile and integration languages and technologies, preferably Angular, NodeJS, Java and the Microsoft Power Platform.
- Previous experience working in a team environment across varying geographical locations operating continuous integration platforms and techniques including test, build and deployment automation.
- Ability to work within or lead a vendor or contractor based team and drive effort towards achieving business outcomes and alignment with NSW Health Pathology reference architectures.
- Experience working with activities like; - Deploying cloud products and vendors such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services - Infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform - Low Code and robotic process automation technologies such as the Microsoft Power Platform - Database platforms such as SQL Server, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, DynamoDB - Docker and container orchestration technology like Kubernetes and Helm.
- Experience operating business analytics tools such as MS Excel and PowerBI.
- Ability to craft and tune complex SQL and NoSQL query statements.
- Ability to be on call out of hours if issues under DevOps team are identified and require urgent resolution.
- Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools and frameworks such as OpenTelemetry, Microsoft AppInsights or Amazon X-Ray.
