Employment Type: Temporary Part Time (Up to 30/06/2026)
Position Classification: Counsellor Level 1, Counsellor Level 2, Psychologist, Social Worker Level 1 & Social Worker Level 2
Remuneration: Dependent on Qualifications
Hours Per Week: 32 (Job Share will be considered for part-time hours)
Location: Cumberland Hospital, North Parramatta
- State-wide specialist service for culturally diverse communities.
- Collaborating with GambleAware Providers across NSW.
- Delivering face-to-face, telephone, and online counseling.
- Advocating for clients with financial institutions and support services.
- Providing financial counseling to clients from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Assisting clients in managing debts and improving budgeting skills.
- Advocating with financial institutions on behalf of clients.
- Developing culturally responsive financial education materials and initiatives.

- Qualification: Degree qualification in Counselling, Psychology or Social work in addition to a diploma of Financial Counselling.
- Registration: Current membership with FCAN
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience and theoretical knowledge of working as a financial counsellor, in a variety of settings, for example individuals, couples, families and groups impacted by addiction.
- Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention.
- Knowledge and application of legislation and regulations relating to gambling and debt recovery and a wide range of networks and services to assist individuals and families with health and welfare concerns.
- Demonstrated experience in working with clients in another language and/or with an interpreter and sensitivity to the needs of people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comprehensive computer skills including word processing and use of data bases.
- Current Class C Drivers Licence and willingness to travel for work purposes.
