The Opportunity

 

This role provides a unique opportunity for a clinician, as part of a new team, to contribute to evidence and improve outcomes for people with AOD concerns.  The In Reach/Outreach/Brief Intervention (IOBI) multidisciplinary team will provide counselling and brief intervention for clients seeking support for AOD concerns and will also provide in reach and outreach services.  The In-Reach component will bring the team’s community expertise into the hospital care setting.  The outreach component will work with individuals with ongoing AOD issues who have had experiences that have impacted them to engage with services. This role will provide an effective and efficient Social Work/Counselling/Psychologist service that addresses that psychosocial aspects of care for patients receiving substance use treatment including providing support, education and resources as required.

This role is based in Coffs Harbour.

About you

Do you have qualifications eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; of qualifications eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; or a bachelor's degree in counselling or related field?  Do you have current clinical knowledge, skills and ability to effectively assess, provide counselling and formulate plans utilizing the principles of trauma-informed care?  Are you passionate about providing client centred and trauma informed care?  Are you interested in working with people to achieve their goals or make positive health and lifestyle changes around alcohol or other drugs?  If so, then this role would be well suited for you.

The Organisation

  1. Qualifications eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or qualifications eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; or a bachelor degree in counselling or a related field, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  2. Demonstrated current clinical knowledge, skills and ability to effectively assess, provide counselling and formulate treatment plans utilising the principles of trauma-informed care.
  3. Understanding the principles of substance use disorders and treatment options available.
  4. Demonstrated ability to complete psychosocial assessments, counselling and plan intervention as required.
  5. Demonstrated commitment and ability to work within a team approach, alongside other disciplines.
  6. Demonstrated ability to facilitate interagency meetings to coordinate care planning for complex patients
  7. Demonstrated competence in verbal, written and computer skills, and ability to manage significant workload.
  8. Current NSW driver's licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purpose.
