About the Opportunity
South Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated and talented Clinical, Health, or Sports Psychologist to join the Growing Healthy Kids Paediatric Weight Management Service. This role provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting children and young people above a healthy weight and helping them develop lifelong positive health habits.

You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, including administrative staff, delivering comprehensive clinical assessments, tailored interventions, and coordinated care for children, young people, and their families/carers. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to evaluating clinical outcomes and shaping service development.

This recruitment may be used to fill future permanent or temporary full-time or part-time positions.

 

What You'll be Doing
To deliver specialist psychological and psychosocial assessment, diagnosis, interventions and consultation in order to address the needs of clients in SWSLHD Growing Healthy Kids (GHK) Childhood Overweight and Obesity Management Service.

The role also participates in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assists in the development and provision of education and training programs. Additionally, the role supervises Psychologists and other disciplines working within the LHD according to organisational needs.

  1. Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. As well as completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated competence in a wide range of psychological assessments and evidence based psychological treatments delivered on an individual and/or group basis.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a range of therapies relevant working with clients and families including behaviour change, behaviour management and family therapy.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of the quality improvement process for service development, implementation and evaluation.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
  6. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience including in a group setting.
  7. Excellent computer skills, including electronic medical record systems.
  8. Demonstrated experience in the provision of trauma-informed care in a paediatric setting.
