Where you'll be working
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) provides primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare to various Local Government Areas (LGAs) in western Sydney. The Blacktown Early Access Team (BEAT) supports young people with mental health issues, focusing on trauma-informed care and multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • Multidisciplinary team: Collaborating across disciplines to provide holistic care.
  • Assessment: Conduct biopsychosocial assessments incorporating trauma and neurodevelopmental factors.
  • Therapy: Tailored, multi-systemic treatment plans based on trauma and attachment theories. • Case management: Comprehensive documentation and care coordination.
  • Consultation: Liaise with external partners and advocate for trauma-sensitive approaches.
  • Professional development: Provide leadership, supervision, and engage in ongoing training.

  

What you'll be doing
This position is for a Clinical Psychologist in the Blacktown Early Access Team (BEAT), supporting young people with moderate to severe mental health issues. The role involves assessment, therapy, case management, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments.
  • Develop and implement trauma-informed treatment plans.
  • Provide case management and maintain clinical documentation.
  • Offer consultation and advocacy with external partners.
  • Supervise and support junior staff and psychology students.

Essential Requirements

Qualification: Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
Registration: Full registration as Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency AHPRA and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology, or eligibility to progress to endorsement.

 

Selection Criteria

  1. Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and full registration as Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency AHPRA and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology, or eligibility to progress to endorsement.
  2. Demonstrated skills and clinical experience in Mental Health in a community setting including working with children/families who present with moderate to severe emotional and behavioural problems.
  3. Demonstrated evidence based skills in the assessment, early intervention and treatment of children and their families presenting with complex mental health issues in a developmental framework.
  4. Demonstrated experience and high level skills in the use of a range of standardised psychometric tools administered as a part of a comprehensive assessment of clients referred to the service.
  5. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and ability to build therapeutic relationships.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and with other service providers to achieve optimal outcomes for children and families.
  7. Current valid NSW drivers licence and willing to use for work purposes.
