About the Role
Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. 
 
The Clinical Midwife Educator provides support and clinical development/ training to staff while fostering a preceptor/mentor role. The role formulates, coordinates, and evaluates unit based educational programs; assessment and demonstration of clinical procedures.
The aim of the position is to use a participation methodology to build:
  • The capacity of individuals to deliver safe, evidenced based care, incorporating reflective practice with the aim of continual improvement.
  • A woman and family focused culture that supports the MUM and staff to deliver innovative models of care and proactively manage change.
 
The position contributes to the overall improvement of health service delivery. The Clinical Midwife Educator provides clinical support for Antenatal Day Assessment Unit and Fetal Medicine Unit, the Clinical Midwife Educator will also be responsible for supporting  the Research Midwifery Team.

Ideal Candidate
  • Has current midwifery registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and relevant post registration experience in the specialty. 
  • Holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications, or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer. 
  • Has the demonstrated understanding and experience in various teaching methodologies including the ability to plan, conduct and evaluate unit based education.
