What You'll be Doing
The Child Protection Educator is an integral member of the Child Protection Strategy Unit (CPSU) and works to enhance the child and family wellbeing and child protection responses within SWSLHD. This includes:

  • Design, develop, deliver and evaluate a child protection training plan for the continuous education of Health staff and relevant health non-government agencies.
  • Provide high level specialist child protection consultation and support to health managers, staff and clinicians, as well as provide child protection clinical supervision groups.
  • Assist in a range of clinical projects and other initiatives to improve the quality and effectiveness of the child wellbeing and protection response within the health services.

  1. A Degree or equivalent in Social Work or related field including Psychology, Welfare which provides eligibility for relevant association or AHPRA registration.
  2. Demonstrated ability in the design, development and delivery and evaluation of adult education programs.
  3. High level experience in and understanding of child protection principles and practice
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant Acts and NSW Health policies in regard to child protection; proven capacity to analyses, interpret and report on complex clinical and professional issues.
  5. Highly developed analytical skills including high level skills in child protection and wellbeing risk assessment and decision making.
  6. Effective written, oral and interpersonal skills to enable: (1) engagement with a broad range of stakeholders; (2) build and sustain collaborative relationships and (3) preparation of clear and concise business documents.
  7. Demonstrated ability and motivation to work part of a senior team with minimum supervision.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both collaboratively and in isolation, in an environment of high and competing demands with a sound understanding of the NSW health system, its demands, environment and knowledge of a range of health services, with a background in clinical service delivery.
  9. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
