Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) are looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Clinician to join our headspace and Youth Complex team. This temporary full-time position offers the opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary environment, supporting young people aged 12-25 years who are facing mental health challenges, substance abuse issues, or complex needs. As a Senior Clinician, you will play a key role in conducting assessments, providing evidence-based treatment, and facilitating referrals to appropriate services. You will also take on a leadership role in coordinating care, offering clinical advice to the team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to young people in need. 


As a Senior Clinician, you will conduct initial screening assessments and provide evidence-based treatment and brief interventions to young people experiencing mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues. Your role will include triage, case coordination, and facilitating referrals to appropriate support services, ensuring young people receive timely and effective care. You will work closely with families, carers, and other staff members to develop individualized care plans and support young people through their treatment journey.


In addition to direct clinical work, you will lead daily clinical review meetings, providing expert clinical advice to the Youth Access Team and Youth Complex Workers. You will also be responsible for supporting complex cases and ensuring that clinical processes and procedures are up to date and effective. Your role will involve outreach work, offering flexibility and support to young people in a variety of settings.

About You
 

  • You must hold a tertiary degree in Community Welfare, Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, or a related field, with appropriate professional registration. In addition, candidates must have a minimum of 3 years' clinical experience working in community welfare, counselling, social work, or a related field.
  • You have extensive experience in working with young people aged 12-25 years who present with multiple and complex needs, including mental health and substance use issues.  
  • You will have a valid Australian Drivers Licence and willingness to travel to other locations within the District.
  • You have experience and an ability to maintain strong linkages and networks with government, community, and corporate stakeholders to ensure clear referral pathways for young people in crisis

You will be part of the headspace and Youth Complex team, based in a vibrant and supportive multi-disciplinary environment. This role offers you the opportunity to work in a collaborative space with private practitioners, allied health professionals, and welfare services, ensuring integrated care for young people in need. As part of the CCLHD, you will contribute to the delivery of youth-focused services, supporting mental health and substance use recovery, and helping young people navigate complex systems.
