Central Coast Emergency Medicine Department:
Gosford and Wyong Hospitals are busy mixed Emergency Departments with a wide variety of presentations, providing good exposure to trauma, Paediatrics (25% of presentations), Medicine, and Surgery. Both are well supported by passionate Emergency Physicians who are committed to your development and wellbeing.
In conjunction with the University of Newcastle, CCLHD has recently opened the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute on the Gosford Hospital campus, providing additional opportunities in training and research.

Emergency Medicine Training Network:
The Central Coast is part of the Emergency Medicine Network 2 Training Program for Advanced Trainees. Gosford & Wyong Emergency Departments are educationally networked for training with ACEM and offer a comprehensive education programme contributing to Primary exam preparation & Fellowship preparation. All trainees (including Unaccredited) have access to paid rostered non-clinical time. CCLHD Emergency Trainees have achieved excellent results in both Primary and Fellowship exams, with a very high pass rate and a number of medal winners for top mark. Both Gosford and Wyong Emergency Departments are ACEM accredited for 36 months training time (including stage 4). Training opportunities for CMO grade doctors include access to enthusiastic and experienced FACEMs for on-the-floor training, and you are encouraged to attend regular morbidity and mortality meetings. We have an active ultrasound training program available, and access to CMO training allowance.
The NSW Central Coast is located only 1 hour north of Sydney CBD. Career opportunities are available for JMOs wishing to progress a career in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care Medicine from SRMO to Consultant level. - MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Working towards or completed ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate or Diploma.
- Aus/NZ/Competent Authority: Completion of a minimum of 4 post graduate years or more working in an acute hospital setting with a minimum of 12 months in an Australian Emergency Department as a Career Medical Officer, Trainee or Senior Resident Medical Officer.
- Standard Pathway Applicants, completion of a minimum of 6 post graduate years or more working in an acute hospital setting with a minimum of 2 years in an Australian Emergency Department working as a Career Medical Officer, Trainee or Senior Resident medical Officer.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated time management, problem solving skills and excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills, with minimum of 30 workds per minute. Along with evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self education.
- Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute.
