The Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Clinician (PIMHC) works with services to provide both intensive mental health care and longer-term care coordination and consultation for pregnant women and parents who have severe and complex mental health problems and who are primary carers for an infant up to 2 years of age. Priority will be based on severity of parental mental illness and/or complex management or family and other social issues that impact on the care of the infant.

About You
  • Registered Nurse List A, current AHPRA registration and a minimum of 5 years post qualification full time experience.
  • Approved post registration qualification relevant to adult mental health, perinatal mental health or infant mental health or extensive clinical practice in the area, and hold a current unrestricted Australian drivers licence.
  • Previous experience in working with parents and families with infants experiencing psycho social and psychiatric problems in the perinatal period with demonstrated knowledge of the impact of mental health problems and mental illness on parenting, parent – infant relationships and infant development.
  • Proven clinical leadership skills and experience in clinical teaching.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computerised information systems and proven ability to utilise research / quality improvement strategies to effect changes in clinical practice.
