Join us as a key member of the Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks in Preschools Service Team, part of the Northern Sydney Local Health District Child, Youth, and Family Community Health Service. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues, playing an essential role in delivering the NSW First 2000 Days Policy to support preschool-aged children and their families in early childhood education settings.

What you'll be doing

The Client Flow Coordinator is a key member of the interdisciplinary Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks (BBHDC) in Preschools Service Team, part of the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Child, Youth and Family (CYF) Community Health Service. Reporting operationally to the Brighter Beginnings Preschool Program Manager and professionally to the respective Allied Health Lead, this position oversees the operational aspects of BBHDC, including scheduling preschool visits, preparing documentation, and supporting stakeholder communication.
The BBHDC program, a collaborative initiative between NSW Health, the NSW Department of Early Education, and preschools, aims to deliver health and development checks for preschool-aged children. This service identifies children with health and development concerns, enhancing access to early intervention support for them and their families before they start primary school.

Working with the Brighter Beginnings Program Manager, the role supports the onboarding of preschools participating in the program, enhances service integration in line with the NSW First 2000 Days Policy Framework, and assists with data collection and reporting for service monitoring and evaluation.

The role also facilitates client intake, triage, case reviews, and clinician allocation for children needing follow-up based on screening results and supports vulnerable families in accessing community-based health services when necessary.
The role requires extensive experience and specialist knowledge in working with preschool-aged children with developmental support needs and their families, enabling accurate triaging of needs. The incumbent is expected to work autonomously, applying high-level clinical reasoning skills to coordinate, prioritise, and review health and development check results, identifying children requiring early intervention and follow-up support. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required to assist the manager with process design, client journey and protocol development.

The role works with the multidisciplinary Brighter Beginnings Team and other CYF community-based health services. Establishing and maintaining formal partnerships with various services requires high-level interpersonal skills and active participation in meetings, case conferences, and clinical handovers. This is a district-wide position. The role may be required to provide services in community health centres and early childhood education centres throughout NSLHD.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Qualification recognised for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Occupational Therapist must have experience as a Level 2 clinician. A bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. Evidence of extensive clinical experience, inclusive of experience as a Level 2 Speech Pathologist Allied Health paediatric role working with children who have developmental support needs.
  2. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete, and share quality improvement activities or service evaluation processes, with experience in clinical case review and reporting.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in working autonomously with limited supervision. Ability to prioritise work, manage a demanding workload, apply high-level reasoning skills, and use independent professional judgement.
  4. Proficiency in using advanced computer applications. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with children, parents, caregivers, and stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation. Ability to contribute to team professional development and capacity-building.
