About Your Role

The Aged Care Nurse Practitioner is responsible for dynamic practice incorporating the application of high level knowledge and skills in  extended practice across stable, unpredictable and complex situations.

The Aged Care endorsed Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse educated and authorised to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role. The Aged Care NP role includes assessment and management of the older person.

The Aged Care NP will utilize their expertise and skill to assess clients, make referrals to other appropriate health care professionals, prescribe medications and order diagnostic investigations.

The Aged Care NP role is grounded in the nursing profession's values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible health care delivery that complements other health care providers.

The scope of practice of the nurse practitioner is determined by the context in which the nurse practitioner is authorised to practice
