The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
The Sydney Sexual Health Centre (SSHC) is within the division of Population and Community Health (PACH), SESLHD. SSHC is a centrally located, confidential and comprehensive Specialist service that helps put clients in control of their sexual health. Clients of the service are provided with free screening, vaccination and management of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) including HIV, hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, women’s and men’s sexual health care (including trans and gender diverse people), education, counselling, and needle and syringe program. This is a training position recognised by the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine (AChSHM, RACP) for core training in STD/HIV medicine and other Colleges by negotiation.
Those candidates who are not eligible for advanced training may still apply e.g. extended skills in GP training or who are not part of a training programme and are interested in gaining more experience in sexual health medicine. To provide effective management of patients accessing Publicly funded sexual health clinics, whilst undertaking learning and professional development activities with the aim of progressing to the position of Fellow of the Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine.
SSHC is part of SESLHD Sexual Health and BBV services, consisting of The Albion Centre, Sydney Sexual Health Centre, Kirketon Road Centre and Short Street Centre. Applicants should be aware when applying for this position that the successful candidate may be required to work across these facilities if needed. The interviews will be conducted jointly between these services. Applicants who apply to more than one service will be asked to inform the selection panel of their first preference prior to interview. Applicants are encouraged to consider applying to all SESLHD Sexual Health and BBV services.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrate team work, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate good organisation, time management skills and commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- At least three years post graduate clinical experience.
- Demonstrated interest in Sexual Health Medicine.
- Where applicable, candidates who are Advanced Trainees in Sexual Health Medicine must have demonstrated satisfactory progression through training.
