Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for an Advanced Trainee to complement and enhance the current Geriatric Medicine Department.

Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

What you'll be doing
The Department of Geriatric Medicine provides a broad and coordinated range of services for a predominantly local population of Liverpool and Fairfield. The patient group is not organ system defined and the clinical expertise and care provided is not limited by the boundaries of organ system subspecialties.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated commitment to training in Geriatric Medicine and previous experience in Aged Care Medicine. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised clinical environment using excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Good time management, organizational skills and advanced computing skills. Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education as well as a willingness to teach and support junior medical staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Completion of at least four postgraduate years and successful completion of the examination requirements of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent, and be eligible to undertake subspecialty training in (Geriatric Medicine) in Australia.
- Candidates who are already in the geriatric medicine program and need more time to complete the training requirements will also be considered. (Six-month requirement period will also be considered).
- Candidates who wish to consider Geriatric medicine as a part of dual training may also apply. Candidates who wish to train part time (minimum 0.6 FTE) or wish to job share with another trainee will also be considered.
- Candidates with at least 2 years of experience in the role of Medical Trainee and with an interest in Elderly medicine will also be considered.
