What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Research Assistant (RA) is to be responsible for biological sample processing/storage and analysis across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research (GIMR).
The RA will process and store samples at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW), transport samples to GIMR and assist in performing experiments/in vitro assays at both SCHN and GIMR.
- Tertiary qualification in science or medical science
- Experience in the performance and analysis of multi-colour flow cytometry
- Experience in designing and performing in vitro cell culture/stimulation experiments, as well as in related functional readouts
- Experience in large/complex dataset creation and management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to build successful working relationships with all levels of staff, management and collaborators
- Computer literacy and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within research teams
- Demonstrated ability to time manage and multi-task
