If you answered yes, the SWSLHD Aboriginal Traineeship Program is for you.

This is an Identified Australian Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for the Traineeship must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent through parentage, identify as an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).  

 



The SWSLHD Aboriginal Traineeship Program offers:

  • A 12-month, full-time, temporary paid work placement with salary above traditional trainee salaries, commencing March 2025.
  • Opportunity to complete a nationally recognised qualification while being paid
  • Culturally safe structured mentoring and support over the duration of the traineeship
  • Potential to transition to an ongoing permanent position

To be eligible to apply, you need to be:

  • An Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage
  • 16 years of age or older
  • Committed to attending TAFE once a week to complete a Certificate 3 or above qualification
  • Able to work 38 hours per week
  • No prior experience required

This Traineeship is supported by Elsa Dixson Program Funding
