About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an Aboriginal identifying person to join the Specialist Palliative Care Service promoting quality of life and dignity for those with a life limiting illness. The project officer will help improve access to end of life and palliative care for Aboriginal people.
The District-wide Specialist Palliative Care Service is a dedicated multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with a life limiting illness. The service provides consultation services across several care settings, including hospital, community and residential aged care facilities. You will be working with a care service team that includes a team of Specialist Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Dietitian and Palliative Care Doctors. This team is supported by a Nurse Educator in Palliative Care and an Administration team.
This is currently a Monday to Friday service with a telephone support service, after hours and on weekends and works closely with other care providers and services to support clients, their families and carers.
The successful candidate will Engage with Community Elders and other Aboriginal community members to improve the knowledge of and promote culturally appropriate advance care planning, palliative and end of life care, and understanding in the community.
