What Will Your Day-to-Day Look Like?
Be part of a close-knit team dedicated to delivering culturally safe and compassionate care to mothers, babies, and their families. In this targeted role, you’ll work closely with the Maternity Unit and Clinical Midwife Specialist, fostering strong connections with the community and external stakeholders.
In this role, you will work Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, partnering closely with the midwife to deliver culturally safe clinical care for mothers, babies, and partners who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. You’ll provide personalised support and education to families, ensuring their care experience is respectful, empowering, and tailored to their needs. Building and nurturing strong connections with the local community, external agencies, and organisations like Armajun will be a key part of your day-to-day, fostering collaboration and trust to enhance outcomes for families

The Determination 1 of 23 Aboriginal Health Worker classification – recognition of prior service ensures there is provisions of Recognition of Prior Years of Service that will influence the commencing of rate of pay for the successful candidate.
As part of the interviewing process, provide any documents and evidence related to your qualifications, service history, payslip and/or statuary declarations to support the timely assessment of your years of experience in both employment and community engagement. This may also include other position descriptions and/or signed letters stating service provided, with dates and times (hours).
Essential:
- This is an identified Aboriginal position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent. Exemption is claimed under section 14d of the anti-discrimination act 1977.
- Aboriginal Health Worker: Holds or aspires to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification in the area of care in which the Aboriginal Health Worker works.
- Aboriginal Health Practitioner: Hold a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) and a current authority to practice as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Eligible to drive in NSW and the ability to travel as required
- Current Working with Children Check.
