About the role:

The Commercial & Business Development Manager will be responsible for guiding the business development of a new locum medical workforce sourcing business unit within NSW Health.

The role will work closely with the Director and Associate Director and provide expertise in business strategy, growth initiatives, financial management, budgeting, performance optimisation and risk management.

The Manager will provide advice on the local and national market and understand emerging industry trends.

The role will build and maintain strong relationships with partners, and stakeholders, identify and pursue new business/commercial opportunities and lead the development of the business plan to take this new business to market and then sustainably expand the new business unit’s market share.

Health Manager level 5, starting salary from $166,678- $186,448 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver a business plan to take the new business successfully to market.
  • Develop a strategic framework to ensure financial sustainability and operational efficiency of the new business.
  • Identify commercial opportunities to secure market share growth.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the business unit’s network and service offerings.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with external partners, ensuring they align with the Unit’s strategic objectives.
  • Generate models to enable budget planning, forecasting and financial reporting, ensuring transparency and fiscal discipline.
  • Establish a governance framework to identify and mitigate financial, operational and regulatory risks, ensuring full compliance with NSW Health policies.

About you:

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with: 

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, finance, health management and/or significant experience in high-level strategic and cross organisational initiatives.
  2. Proven experience (>5 years) in new business development, particularly within the healthcare or workforce management sectors with a strong background in identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving growth initiatives.
  3. Proven experience in business strategy, financial management, budgeting, performance optimisation and risk management.
  4. Experience navigating public sector policy and structures, preferably within the NSW health system or similar large healthcare environments.
