 - 0.5 FTE for 12 months from July 2024
 - 0.65 FTE for 6 months from July 2024, with possibility of extension

We're in search of experienced General Paediatricians to deliver high quality care to our community.

In this role, you'll be responsible for providing safe, efficient, and effective inpatient and outpatient General Paediatric services at consultant level. This includes offering consultative support to our Emergency Department and various other departments within Maitland Hospital. Additionally, you'll play a crucial role in paediatric liaison with community health services, addressing developmental, behavioural, and child protection concerns.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Hold a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics and Child Health Division)
  • Demonstrate recent and extensive experience in General Paediatrics
  • Possess clinical expertise necessary for handling paediatric and resuscitation procedures relevant to this level of service
  • Be available for after-hours on-call duty at Maitland Hospital, including weekends and public holidays
  • Provide consultative General Paediatric services in regular ambulatory clinics at Maitland and other district locations
  • Offer consultative support to the Emergency Department and other departments within Maitland Hospital, as well as hospitals within the Lower Hunter and Hunter Valley sectors.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.  Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
