This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (pro-rata part-time/temporary positions less than 18 months), and a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (pro-rata part time), under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (as taxable income).

What you'll be doing
The Violence, Abuse, and Neglect (VAN) Senior Clinician in the Far West Local Health District (FWLHD) possesses extensive specialist knowledge and a high level of broad generalist expertise. They provide counselling and therapeutic interventions that are trauma-informed and solution-focused, utilizing both brief and crisis intervention models, and providing clinical and strategic leadership within the service across a district wide area.
Operating autonomously with minimal direct supervision, the VAN  Senior Clinician demonstrates advanced reasoning skills and clinical expertise in trauma informed care. They specialize in handling complex social issues related to violence, abuse, and neglect and are experts in service provisions within the FWLHD. Their responsibilities include strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting on clinical services, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of FWLHD VAN departmental protocols, initiatives, policies, and procedures.
The FWLHD VAN service is dedicated to enhancing the care provided in our district to improve the health and wellbeing of our community, with a particular focus on addressing violence, abuse, and neglect.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:

  1. Level 4 Senior Clinician is holding minimum qualifications (Social work or Psychology), complemented by either postgraduate qualifications in the VAN domain or significant experience in the VAN field, demonstrating specialized expertise or broad knowledge across clinical areas.
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in child protection service delivery settings, with significant experience in trauma informed care; demonstrated high-level understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and domestic violence and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.
  3. Demonstrated ability to act as a senior clinician to work autonomously and exercising independent professional judgement with minimal supervision. Previous experience or extensive knowledge in working with clients that have complex psychosocial issues living in a rural community.
  4. Demonstrated skills and experience in the provision of case management supervision and/or extensive experience in providing clinical advice and support to clinicians working in child protection, domestic violence or sexual assault.
  5. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
  6. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
  7. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, work in partnership with key stakeholders and to apply independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a complex nature.
  8. Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence and ability to travel as part of the role.
