Location: Broken Hill NSW
The Far West LHD in partnership with the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM), have opened applications for the Health Management Internship Program (HMIP) 2024 cohort. A two-year internship that’s designed as a development program for staff who have leadership interests within the Far West LHD.
- To gain meaningful experiential learning in health management through a minimum of four (4) supported work placements of approximately six (6) months each during a two (2) year period; to complete the competencies as outlined in the ACHSM Internship Program; and to obtain a Master of Health Management through the ACHSM Health Management Internship Program (HMIP).
- During the placements interns will provide a level of professional service to the FWLHD and NSW Health through managing project plans including (as appropriate to each placement) physical and human resources, project budgets being met and achieving project deliverables of significance to the FWLHD and NSW Health, including, shadowing the executive during rotations and overseeing the management of aspects of health services (as appropriate to each placement).
Essential Criteria
- Be an Australian Citizen or hold Permanent Residency or permanent work rights in Australia.
- Hold a relevant undergraduate degree from a recognised provider.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:
- Undergraduate level degree in a relevant field from a recognised provider.
- Willingness to undertake the ACHSM two (2) year supported Management Internship Program, including obtaining a Master of Health Management.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with key stakeholders and build working relationships.
- Demonstrated skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, interpret and apply organisational and workplace policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, prioritise work and meet designated deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in project/program coordination or management with the ability to effectively organise and manage projects.
- Understanding of the challenges associated with the delivery of health services across a demographically diverse rural Local Health District.
- Current drivers licence and ability to travel (including overnight stays).
