Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is offering an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and dedicated Permanent Full Time Registered Nurses to join the Acute Care Mental Health Team at Gosford Hospital.

About the Role

This position plays a key role in delivering acute mental health care and crisis intervention across the Central Coast. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you’ll be rostered across a 7-day rotating schedule and may be called upon to assist other mental health teams to ensure continuity of safe, responsive care.

As a Registered Nurse in the Acute Care Team (ACT), you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments
  • Provide expert clinical guidance to consumers, carers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Advocate for person-centred, family-inclusive, and carer-supportive care
  • Triage referrals from inpatient units, community mental health services, and the Mental Health Line

You’ll bring advanced clinical expertise, sound decision-making, and a commitment to delivering compassionate care to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

About You

  •        Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA, with the skills and confidence to deliver high-quality mental health care in a dynamic and supportive environment.
  •        Proven clinical expertise in Mental Health, including comprehensive assessments, mental state examinations, triage, and crisis management—along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  •        Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, document clearly, and use technology effectively to support innovative, evidence-based mental health nursing practice.
  •        Strong knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and therapeutic approaches for individuals experiencing acute mental illness.
