About the role:
Within the framework of the Mission, Vision, Values and philosophy, as well as the Policies of St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney (SVHNS) this position supports and grows service provision within St Vincent’s Clinical Genomics (SVCG). The position is expected to provide medical genomics service to adult patients, via outpatient clinics (general and multidisciplinary clinics), and ward consults at St Vincent’s Public Hospital. The role also involves supervision of genetic counsellors, genetics fellows, and students.

This position will enhance existing clinical and research collaborative relationships between the Clinical Genomics Service at St Vincent’s Hospital and the research institutions on campus, including the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, Kinghorn Centre, and Applied Medical Research Centre. The successful applicant will be required to have an active role in the provision of clinical care including supervision of junior medical staff, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, quality improvement and clinical research activities. The successful applicant may be eligible for a conjoint appointment in the St Vincent’s Clinical School within the Faculty of Medicine, University of New South Wales at a level commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Selection Criteria:
•    Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s

Health Australia.
•    Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); 
•    Possess FRACP or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist’s State Award; 
•    Possess, or be eligible to possess, HGSA Clinical Geneticist Certification;
•    Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical genomics practice commensurate with experience which is appropriate to

the requirements of the position;
•    Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working

congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and operating in an integrated environment with a

commitment to the implementation of best practice and clinical service innovation; 
•    Demonstrated commitment to teaching at speciality registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels; 
•    Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate

with work in an academic teaching hospital environment;
•    Maintain an intellectual environment within the Department conducive to high quality medical research;
•    Cancer genetics experience and/or research track record not essential but will be considered favourably.
