Paediatric Surgical Unaccredited Trainee positions are available at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, for up to 12 months, for the 2022 Clinical Year from 07 February 2022 to 05 February 2023.
The role provides an opportunity for further development of paediatric skills in the spheres of clinical care, surgical procedures, education and supervision under the supervision of consultant paediatric surgeons. Responsibilities will include providing surgical support to the patients of paediatric Staff Specialists and Visiting Medical Officers, trauma and emergency support to the patients in all clinical areas of the hospital including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, inpatient and outpatient areas and at Royal Hospital for Women. The role will also include teaching of junior medical officers, nurses and undergraduates.
This position is not accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).

​​Selection Criteria:
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
  2. Minimum three years postgraduate experience
  3. At least 12 months previous paediatric or adult equivalent surgical experience
  4. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  5. Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals
  6. Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, and willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff
  7. Demonstrated skills in time management, prioritisation and problem solving
  8. Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self education
