The 0.5 FTE Clinical Ethics Provisional Fellowship at The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN) is available for the 2026 Clinical Year, from 02 February 2026 to 31 January 2027.

This is an Advanced Training position in Clinical Ethics. The Fellow will help provide input and participate in further developing the SCHN Clinical Ethics Support Service (CESS) which is acknowledged as an important service within the Network. The Fellowship is a valuable learning experience both for the Fellow and the Network, in developing and sharing ethics capacity at all organisational levels, and reflecting on ‘what we ought to do, not just what we can do’ in clinical care.

The Fellow will be involved in all five domains of the SCHN CESS: education, clinical ethics consultation, embedding ethics into organisational policy, research and academic connections and clinical ethics service planning and development. The fellow will assist in planning and scheduling Clinical Ethics meetings and forums and participate in education, service delivery and research with support from the Clinical Ethicist and Clinical Ethics Medical Lead. Advanced training in bioethics is currently offered via universities as a Graduate Diploma, Graduate Certificate, Master's degree or PhD studies, all of which require major commitment of time and money.

This Network role involves dividing time equitably and attending activities and meetings at both The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW), and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick (SCH). The Fellowship offers an invaluable opportunity to gain experience and training in Clinical Ethics. The Fellow will also contribute to the important development of the SCHN Clinical Ethics Support Service.
