About the Role 
Step into a senior leadership role as a Senior Physiotherapist within the Geriatric Medicine Department at Westmead Hospital. This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while shaping clinical education and service excellence. Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver acute physiotherapy care for geriatric patients across wards, ED and outliers
  • Manage complex cases and discharge planning, supporting and guiding team members
  • Facilitate and supervise student placements and coordinate clinical education
  • Lead the First Year Graduate Program and mentor junior physiotherapists
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and contribute to service innovation and planning

 

About you
This senior physiotherapy role requires dynamic and experienced clinician with a passion for acute aged care, leadership, and service improvement. You will bring a strong clinical foundation, a collaborative spirit, and a proven ability to drive quality outcomes across a busy multidisciplinary environment.

You will have:

  • Extensive acute physiotherapy experience, including geriatrics, neurology, MSK and orthopaedics, guided by evidence-based practice
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and mentor a team of Level 1–2 physiotherapists and coordinate clinical supervision
  • Advanced problem-solving and project leadership skills with a history of successful quality improvement initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven ability in risk assessment, complex discharge planning, and service review to improve patient outcomes and drive service efficiency

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy current National
  • Registration: Current National Physiotherapy Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Selection Criteria:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy, and current National Physiotherapy Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Extensive post graduate experience in Aged Care and ability to complete comprehensive Physiotherapy Assessment including Intervention of Older Patients in both the acute and community setting.
  3. Demonstrated skill in the analysis of complex issues, problem solving, formulating new approaches and implementing comprehensive change programs and improvement strategies, including the ability to develop and monitor outcomes.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  5. Extensive experience in student and staff supervision and ability to apply knowledge of competency assessment processes including student feedback and reporting.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development, evidence based practice and quality improvement.
  7. Demonstrated ability to provide advice to service managers on clinical service delivery, clinical practice and redesign to improve the service.
  8. Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia.
