Selection Criteria

  • Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997.
  • Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Possess or be eligible for a NSW driver’s licence.
  • Sound clinical knowledge in Orthopaedic Surgery, Demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
  • Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
    • High level interpersonal and communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team
    • Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice
    • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision
  • Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
  • Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices that support credentialing to the position and are commensurate with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
  • Subspecialty interest or expertise in pelvic and acetabular surgery, lower limb trauma surgery and hip arthroplasty.
  • Fellowship training in pelvic and acetabular surgery and documented experience as primary surgeon in performing these cases. A log book would be required to demonstrate this experience.
