What you'll be doing
Lead the maternity team at Blacktown Hospital, ensuring high standards of care, staff support, and service coordination in a woman-centred environment. Your responsibilities will also include:
- Providing leadership and daily clinical coordination
- Supporting and mentoring midwifery staff at all levels
- Overseeing quality and safety across the service
- Managing budgets and key health resources
- Ensuring compliance with NSW Health directives

Essential Criteria:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife (Division 1) and a post graduate qualification in Midwifery
Selection Criteria:
- Current extensive experience in midwifery in caring for antenatal and postnatal inpatients
- Demonstrated commitment to the effective and meaningful engagement of the multidisciplinary team in the decision-making process that impacts on positive women and newborn outcomes and maternity service.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to continuous quality improvement and the ability to manage change
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a midwifery team within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated highly developed coaching, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to think critically and engage and enable a team
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience of managing the financial responsibilities of a hospital ward effectively
- Demonstrated sound knowledge of contemporary midwifery issues in maternity care and commitment to woman centred/evidenced based practice and strategic ideals
