What you'll be doing
Mental health Clinician with Access and Assessment Mental Health Team, provides, intake and assessment functions including, crisis management, home treatment and acute clinical care coordination. This role also liaises with most appropriate service unit within the Blacktown Mental Health services as well as external agencies and private sector (e.g. GP, Private psychiatrist and psychologist etc.).

Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

Essential Requirements: 

  •  Qualifications which permit registration as a Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, or Psychologist which provides eligibility for membership  of the relevant professional association and full registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency where legislated.

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Experience and clinical skills in community mental health triage, comprehensive assessments, including risk and safety planning as well as experience in provision of collaborative care and discharge planning
  2. Understanding of Mental Health/ Psychiatry service/ crisis work and ability to work with in a demanding crisis/acute management service.
  3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with consumers/carers/families and has experience working with families who are coping with Mental Health Illness.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal communications skills, effective verbal, written and negotiation skills and intermediate computer skills.
  5. Experience and knowledge in acute mental health intervention, early intervention, and CALD issues.
  6. Understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health with the ability to implement these in clinical practice.
  7. Understanding of NSW Mental Health Act (2007).
  8. Current Driving licence (class C - unrestricted) valid within Australia and willingness to use same for the work purpose.
