Applications are invited from a suitably qualified Angiography/Interventional Postgraduate Fellow for a 1-year Fixed Term in the Western Sydney Local Health District.  The position will be primarily located at Westmead Hospital within the Department of Radiology.

The successful applicant will be expected to work in a multidisciplinary team environment in the Angiography section of the Department of Radiology at Westmead Hospital, and be involved in triaging, prescribing, supervising, and reviewing Angiography/Interventional examinations.

Currently there are two Angiography suites, performing well over 8000 examinations per year covering all organ systems. The Angiography/Interventional Fellow is supervised and trained by radiologists with subspecialty fellowship training in Interventional applications. The department is active in basic science and clinical research programmes.

There is some allocated time for the Angiography/Interventional Postgraduate Fellow to participate in research projects, teaching, and additional subspecialty exposure.

The Angiography/Interventional Postgraduate Fellow is required to participate in the afterhours on call roster for Angiography/ Interventional and be involved in teaching and relevant clinical meetings.

Applicants expecting to have completed their 5 years advanced RANZCR training and be eligible for their Fellowship at the time of commencement of this position, may be considered.

Applicants expecting to be awarded fellowship within 6 months are eligible to apply.

The position will be for a period of twelve months for the 2026 Clinical Year.

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.

Essential Requirements for Appointment

1.    Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the RANZCR as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award/ Health Insurance Act 1997. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license (if applicable)

2.    Basic clinical knowledge Angiography/Interventional Radiology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position

Selection Criteria

1.    Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.

2.    Basic clinical knowledge in Angiography/Interventional Radiology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.

3.    Preferred applicants with Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency, alternatively have an Australian working visa.

4.    High level interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

5.    Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of more junior trainees and medical students, and familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support clinical research within the Department

6.    Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence based best practice.

7.    Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Practitioner.
