What you'll be doing
The Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS) is responsible for strategic leadership, clinical service provision and capacity building for the portfolio areas of sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection.

The IVPRS Community Development Counsellor is responsible for coordinating and facilitating prevention and community development programs across the three IVPRS portfolios (sexual assault, child protection & domestic violence).

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling
  • Registration: Eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership. 

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.
  2. Demonstrated counselling experience in complex trauma and trauma informed practice within a Violence, Abuse & Neglect setting (e.g. sexual assault, child protection or domestic violence services).
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and domestic violence and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of intergenerational trauma and the principles of cultural safety, with experience in (or commitment to) providing culturally responsive services to individuals and families.
  5. Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity work in collaboration and partnership with a wide range of key internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Experience in community development and prevention work, with planning, presentation and quality management skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to manage without direct supervision or with some autonomy, a diverse range of tasks, work under pressure, manage projects and meet tight deadlines.
  8. Current NSW Driver’s License and willingness to use for work purposes.
