Selection Criteria

1. Must have Australian Citizenship or permanent Australian Residency and possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
2. Qualified for employment as a staff specialist, as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award, on the basis of Fellowship of one of the following:
1. the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP)
2. the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (FRANZCP)
3. the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or
4. other relevant College fellowship
3. Specialist qualification in Addiction Medicine (Fellowship of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine – FAChAM) or certification in Addiction Psychiatry or equivalent or expectation that this will be conferred in the near future.
4. Sound clinical knowledge and experience in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an appropriate clinical context, including in opioid agonist treatment.
5. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including, but not limited to:
1. High level interpersonal and communication skills
2. Demonstrated ability working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
3. Experience and involvement in clinical governance, quality assurance and evidence-based practice and
4. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, supervision and research.
6. Familiarity with research concepts and a commitment to applied and clinical research.
7. Knowledge of, and commitment to, the implementation of best practice and clinical service innovation.
8. Knowledge and understanding of accreditation, incident monitoring, complaints management and workplace health and safety.
