Selection Criteria
Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)/Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
Sound clinical knowledge in Palliative Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
Broad knowledge of different models of palliative care and the ability to apply this knowledge to the introduction of new services.
Demonstrated skills in coordinating medical and rehabilitation care of complex conditions.
Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including: High level interpersonal and communication skills; Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team; Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice; and Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
Evidence of participation in Continuing Medical Education, through the College of Physicians or otherwise evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices that support credentialing to the position and are commensurate with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
