Essential Criteria:
Qualification:  Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling 
Registration:  Eligibility for appropriate professional registration (AHPRA) for Psychology or association membership
Being Female and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander are genuine occupational qualifications for this position as described under Sections 31 and 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1977 (NSW).
 
Selection Criteria:
  1. This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent, have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander cultures and have established links with their local Aboriginal community. An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and exemption is claimed under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW.
  2. Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor degree) in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling OR Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.
  3. Demonstrated counselling experience in complex trauma and trauma informed practice within a Violence, Abuse & Neglect setting (e.g. sexual assault, child protection or domestic violence services).
  4. Demonstrated high level assessment, case formulation, intervention planning (including case management) and counselling skills with children, young people and adults, with a capacity to draw on a wide range of therapeutic modalities.
  5. Demonstrated high level understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and domestic violence and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of current policies and legislation relating to sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence and knowledge of legal systems involved in sexual assault service provision.
  7. Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work with in partnership with others.
  8. Current driver's license valid in Australia and willingness to use for work purposes
