Hours Per Week: 38 (Job Share may be considered for part time hours)

What you'll be doing 
The NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV) is a statewide unit auspiced by Western Sydney Local Health District. ECAV is responsible for multi-sectorial learning, capacity building and workforce development, community development and supervision, in the specialist areas of prevention and response to violence, abuse and neglect (PARVAN).

The Project Officer plays a key role in the ECAV Aboriginal Portfolio supporting the Manager – Aboriginal Portfolio to ensure projects and programs meet objectives and outcomes on time, to quality standards and within agreed scope. This role performs administrative and other support functions (eg. planning, scheduling, reporting, implementation, evaluation) to assist delivery of education services and community program and projects.

Essential Criteria:

  • License: NSW Drivers Licence

Selection Criteria:

  1. This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent, have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander cultures and have established links with their local Aboriginal community. An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and exemption is claimed under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW.
  2. Relevant tertiary qualifications, at a minimum holding a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Family Wellbeing and Violence Prevention Work (10619NAT).
  3. Sound understanding of Aboriginal workforce development (eg. barriers, challenges and opportunities) within the context of prevention and response to violence abuse and neglect, alongside active commitment to practicing self care and appreciation of its importance.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with demonstrated ability to learn new record management systems and/or platforms (eg. Office 365, HPE, Moodle, Scodle).
  5. Proven effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to foster positive and effective working relationships.
  6. Highly developed skills in prioritisation, organisation, complex problem solving, time management and completing tasks to deadlines.
  7. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively both independently with minimum supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to cultural safety and behaviour consistent with NSW Health CORE values.
