We are seeking the services of a General Practitioner – Visiting Medical Officer for Gilgandra Multi-Purpose Service. The GP VMO will provide contemporary comprehensive service for optimal patient outcomes to achieve safe clinical practice.

Where you'll be working

Gilgandra is the halfway point between Melbourne (880 kilometres away) and Brisbane (790 kilometres away), with Sydney approximately 445 Kilometres to the east. The town is 270 kilometres northwest of Orange and 65 kilometres northeast of the major regional city of Dubbo.
The Gilgandra Multipurpose Service (MPS) is a 31-bed facility and includes acute, sub-acute and high care residential aged care beds. The facility has a 24-hour emergency department, outpatient services including renal dialysis and a range of integrated primary and community health care services.
To apply, please address the following Selection Criteria
- Unconditional General and/or Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and/or Vocational Recognition as a General Practitioner.
- Minimum three (3) years post graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of and commitment to clinical quality and patient safety, work health and safety, working within NSW Health Policy and current clinical practice guidelines.
- Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing the range of procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department.
- An understanding of patient centred care and demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team including demonstration of NSW Health CORE values in delivering safe and high quality care.
