Staff Specialist – Rural Generalist - Mudgee


We are seeking a Staff Specialist Rural Generalist for Mudgee Health Service. This is an exciting opportunity.

The Rural Generalist position will provide a senior level of clinical and non-clinical services at Mudgee Health Service The Rural Generalist will provide high quality emergency medicine care, inpatient care and outpatient services. You will be able to provie procedural services within the scope of your qualifications and scope of clinical practice. You will have leadership responsibilities for the provision of best practice clinical services, quality and safety across the facility to ensure that the patient’s journey is safe, timely and effective.

This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $5,000 under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.


This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

Packages may consist of relocation benefits, a fortnightly Rural Retention Allowance, contributions to professional development and utility reimbursements, in addition to accommodation assistance.

To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued at $5,000 (as taxable income).

  1. Unconditional General and/or Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine or other relevant College.
  3. Demonstrated experience to undertake basic and advanced medical procedures including Advanced Life Support and able to exercise professional independence.
  4. Demonstrated high level skills and involvement in clinical care, supervision, mentoring and teaching.
  5. Demonstrated skills and commitment to improvements in clinical care, patient safety and risk management processes, including the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to achieve change.
  6. Demonstrated high level interpersonal communication and team skills, to effectively work with health care and community organisations plus demonstrated capacity to use electronic and IT systems.
  7. Evidence of participation in continuing professional development.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to the broader service objectives of the public health system, including the effective utilisation of resources and participation in activities beyond direct patient care.
