About the Opportunity:
As a Registered Nurse Reliever for the Sourthern Sector with Western NSW Local Health District, you will be an integral part of our nursing team providing nursing relief across a number of our health facilities.

In this exciting and diverse role, you will have the opportunity to experience working in a range of different Health Services and smaller Multipurpose Services (MPS) providing essential health services to local communities including to some of our most vulnerable populations.

You will be working in a range of health settings (depending on your experience) including inpatient and emergency health, outpatient services, renal dialysis, community-based health and aged care.

Where you’ll be working:
As a Registered Nurse Reliever with Southern Sector you will be working in a range of our health facilities across the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD).

WNSWLHD is one of the largest Local Health Districts in New South Wales covering an area of 246,676 square kilometres, similar to the size of Britain. We deliver innovative health services to an estimated resident population of approximately 276,000 people.

WNSWLHD is diverse in the health care it delivers boasting the largest rural mental health service in Australia, three major rural referral hospitals at Orange, Dubbo and Bathurst, 50 community health centres which provide access to a wide range of multidisciplinary primary, and community health services, 38 inpatient facilities including 25 Multipurpose Services (MPSs) and District Health Services at Mudgee, Cowra, Parkes and Forbes.

There are more than 30,786 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the Local Health District, representing 11.1% of the total population. This is significantly higher than the NSW average of 2.1%. The smaller more remote communities of Brewarrina, Walgett, Coonamble and Bourke have the highest proportion of Aboriginal people. People of a non-English speaking background, make up 2.8% of the population, compared to 15% for NSW.

Our region has some of the most vulnerable population in NSW, and even Australia, who generally have a lower socio-economic status, shorter life expectancy, and poorer health outcomes than other people living in NSW.

What you’ll be doing
As a Registered Nurse Reliever for the Southern Sector with Western NSW Local Health District, you will be an integral part of the nursing team providing nursing relief and leave coverage to a range of our facilities. You will be part of our multidisciplinary team providing care to patients across a range of facilities and departments as required.


To apply, please address the following Selection Criteria

  1. Current Authority to Practise as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Recent acute clinical experience in Emergency and evidence of advanced practice skills including having First Line Emergency Care Certificate (FLECC) or willingness to commence within 12 months of employment.
  2. Demonstrated effective clinical communication including verbal, written and interpersonal skills and use of information technology.
  3. Understanding of team nursing and demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary health care team.
  4. Commitment to quality improvement, practice development and evidence-based practice.
  5. Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work load.
  6. Demonstrated personal attributes including resilience, accountability, integrity and ability to manage self.
  7. Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and negotiate to deliver quality nursing care.
  8. Current licence to drive in NSW with the ability to drive for work purposes.
