  1. Demonstrated ability to practice in accordance with the Registered Midwife National Competency Standards, Code of Ethics for Midwives, and Code of Professional Conduct for Midwives (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia).
  2. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means; and sound interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  3. An understanding of woman centred care and demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the multi-disciplinary health care team.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality midwifery care
  5. Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise workload and deliver care with integrity and accountability.
  6. Understanding of Aboriginal culture and Aboriginal women’s issues and ability to apply knowledge of current issues relating to Aboriginal pregnancy, childbirth, mortality and morbidity.
