Aboriginal Health Worker (AMIHS)– Transition to Practice
Cowra Health Service

About the role
Cowra Health service is seeking a passionate, dedicated and driven female Aboriginal Health Worker to work in partnership with the Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health service (AMIHS) midwife.

Come join our friendly team at Cowra! AMIHS is a woman centred model of care that incorporates the cultural, social, mental and physical aspects of health care. The model of care ensures the woman and her family are equal partners within their pregnancy journey. This is provided through community based antenatal and postnatal care to women and their families having an Aboriginal baby.

The Aboriginal Health Worker is the cultural lead and the midwife provides the clinical care. Together this partnership can ensure the woman’s journey is clinically and culturally safe.

The successful applicant must be willing to work towards obtaining a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) within 2.5yrs of commencement of employment, complete clinical placements and work towards AHPRA standards to meet registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.

You will be supported by orientation to the role, and supported throughout your learning, growth and development.

You will receive assistance with travel and accommodation to attend TAFE blocks.
