Selection Criteria
 

  1. Current medical practitioner, registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award and the Health Insurance Act (1973). This must encompass the Speciality of Genetic Pathology, and applicants who are expected to obtain their FRCPA within three months are eligible to apply.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to basic, applied or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training.
  3. Proven ability to work as a team member with effective communication, interpersonal skills and adaptability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment, with demonstrated personal qualities including effective communication skills, motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to the principles of clinical quality management, continuous improvement and a contemporary knowledge of National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) Standards and NATA accreditation processes.
  5. Demonstrated contemporary clinical knowledge and technical expertise in the specialty of Genetic Pathology, with ability to apply principles of evidence-based medicine to clinical and laboratory practice, and to contribute to the advance of biomedical science.
  6. In depth understanding of genomic bioinformatics principles as they apply to genomic DNA testing, with demonstrated experience in molecular genetics DNA research.
  7. Demonstrated track record and/or qualifications suitable for an appropriate academic title within the University of Sydney to enable teaching and research opportunities and interactions to extend beyond traditional hospital facilities.
