About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dedicated speech pathologist to join a supportive team providing high quality services to patients admitted to Bankstown Hospital.

This senior position is the sole weekend clinician covering Saturday, Sunday and either Friday or Monday.

The position is responsible for
assessment and intervention for patients with communication and swallowing disorders across the inpatient caseloads.

Opportunity to complete VFSS and/or FEES, provide supervision and training to other staff, and work on quality improvement projects within the team.

The successful applicant will be well supported and have access to supervision and professional development.

  1. Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  2. Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or students.
  3. Demonstrated leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and time management.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to EBP and experience implementing EBP into service planning and evaluation of service changes.
  6. Advanced clinical knowledge and postgraduate experience and skills in managing adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties in a hospital setting, including competency in  instrumental assessments (VFSS and/or FEES).
  7. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
