About the Opportunity
The Sexual Assault Service has an opportunity for a Female Sexual Assault worker who will provide therapeutic responses to children,  adults, families and groups (all ages and genders). This includes leading therapeutic practices in both individual and group settings. You will be provided with professional development opportunities, cultural supervision, opportunities to participate in cultural strengths mapping and you will be part of a larger, supportive Aboriginal workforce.
 
This position will have a professional development plan in place that will provide the opportunity for work based development which allows for progression through the Award levels in accordance with the incumbent's skill acquisition.

  1. This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent through parentage, identify as an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
  2. Degree in Social Work, Psychology or other relevant counselling degree deemed appropriate by employer or completion in in the ECAV pathway, with demonstrated cultural expertise.
  3. Demonstrated ability to create connections, engagement and collaboration with Aboriginal communities and service providers with an understanding of intergenerational trauma and child sexual abuse in combination with an ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive counselling services to individuals, and their families and an understanding of the legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW.
  5. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to clinical and cultural supervision and professional education relevant to enhancing in the role.
  7. Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
