About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurses to join our team at Liverpool, Bankstown and Campbelltown as a Haematology Clinical Research Nurse.


Positions on offer:

  • Liverpool Hospital: Temporary Full Time or Part Time
  • Bansktown Hospital: Temporary Part Time - 15 Hours per week (0.4 FTE)
  • Campbelltown Hospital: Temporary Part Time - 15 Hurs per week (0.4 FTE)

As part of your role you will:

  • Work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to plan, implement, assess, and evaluate care, ensuring high-quality patient-centered nursing care in alignment with the objectives and policies of the Southwestern Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD).
  • Practice nursing in accordance with legislation, standards, codes of conduct, and ethical guidelines, ensuring safe and professional behavior in the workplace.
  • Act as an advocate for patients to uphold their autonomy, rights, and privacy, while actively involving them and their families in education regarding clinical trials, treatments, and management.
  • Interpret protocols, provide individualised trial schedules, monitor patient conditions, and maintain relevant forms, ensuring accurate and timely entry of trial data in compliance with standards.
  • Offer expert patient-centered consultancy to patients, carers, and families, supporting them throughout their healthcare journey.
  • Collaborate with clinical and research colleagues to integrate research seamlessly into holistic nursing care, striving for rigorous, high-quality clinical research to improve healthcare outcomes.

    1. Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
      Accredited in the administration of cytotoxic agents (chemotherapy).
      Accredited in Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD’s) or willing to gain accreditation
      Accredited in cannulation and venepuncture or willing to obtain accreditation.
    2. Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
    3. Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Nurse or Clinical Trials Coordinator in either Haematology or Medical Oncology speciality.
    4. Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
    5. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers, and multidisciplinary team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
    6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
    7. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of clinical trials and research participation.
    8. Demonstrated and well developed organisational and problem solving skills and demonstrated well developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
    9. Demonstrated computer skills, including Powerchart, Microsoft (MS) Outlook, Word and Excel with willingness to learn and use electronic medical information, reporting and data capture systems
    10. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety quality improvement programs.
