About the Opportunity
The AMS service at Campbelltown Hospital is an excellent stewardship service with high level clinical engagement. The service has developed a strong collaborative approach that has fostered a collegial relationship between AMS, ID, and medical staff across Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals. Come and join the team. 

Core service delivery includes:

  • Offer clinical guidance, manage antibiotic surveillance, and audit structures
  • Develops clinical pathways for areas where there is poor alignment to the best practice, supports sepsis management, oversee antibiotics errors and propose strategies to risk mitigate
  • Mentor JMOs, nursing and pharmacy as well as provide education on antibiotic use
  • Develops and expand research

 

What You'll be Doing
This role is responsible to ensure the ongoing operation and development of a comprehensive antimicrobial stewardship program across Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals including provision of computerised decision support and restriction tools, monitoring performance, evaluating effectiveness, and supporting continuous improvement in quality and safety. Working as a member of the AMS team for SWSLHD ensuring implementation of the various aspects of the AMS policy and improving quality use of antimicrobials, liaising with prescribers, pharmacists and other clinicians.

Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals, part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District, work together to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the Macarthur region.

 

Campbelltown Hospital, a leading tertiary facility, offers a wide range of services including cardiology, maternity, palliative care, respiratory medicine, emergency medicine, and aged-care services. It also features specialised Mental Health and Cancer facilities. Camden Hospital complements these services by specialising in care for older persons with acute or chronic health conditions, including rehabilitation, palliative care, geriatric evaluation and management, and psychogeriatric care.

 

 The hospitals share a close-knit, community-focused team dedicated to delivering safe, quality, and compassionate care. The ongoing multi-million dollar redevelopment at Campbelltown Hospital will further enhance its capabilities, introducing advanced equipment and amenities.

  1. Full AHPRA Pharmacy Board Registration with no restrictions to the scope of practice.
  2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) within a multi­ disciplinary environment.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, consultation and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop effective strategic relationships within the organisation.
  4. Extensive clinical Pharmacy practice experience within a tertiary referral hospital, or experience in antimicrobial stewardship, or in critical care areas or haematology ward or Infectious Diseases.
  5. Experience in the development and implementation of programs to manage quality use of medicines, particularly in the area of antimicrobials, or demonstrated participation in other quality improvement programs.
  6. Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of education programs to various health professionals. .
  7. Demonstrated capacity to work independently with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to effect practice change.
  8. Proven ability to critically review and assess practice including identifying opportunities for change and appropriate outcome measures demonstrating the change.
