What you'll be doing

The Operations Assistant role supports the clinical team, primarily within the operating theatres, to promote the smooth running of surgical services; but also provides assistance throughout the health service according to need, including general duties in wards, cleaning and portering for patient transfers or equipment around the facility.



Selection Criteria:

  • Previous experience in one or more areas of this role - working with people in a care setting, undertaking cleaning duties or providing general assistance in a health or aged care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, completing set tasks effectively with minimal direct supervision.
  • Good communication skills - both written and verbal, and ability to relate well and communicate respectfully to line management, colleagues and members of the public.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, supporting others and taking directions from supervisors or other staff as appropriate.
  • Ability and willingness to work shifts, on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Willingness to work within a theatre environment, around surgical procedures, as part of the broader care team.
  • Ability to use a computer with skills to use a web based ordering system.
  • Knowledge of Work, Health and Safety principles, especially around safe manual handling.
