Selection Criteria
- Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (NB applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW) and have established links with their local Aboriginal community.
- Demonstrated experience of working with Aboriginal population and understanding of health disparity and disadvantage experienced by the Aboriginal people.
- Lived experience of being a family member or carer of someone with a mental illness or demonstrated experience of providing support to carers within a carer support organisation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health issues and issues for families and carers of people with a mental illness with Well-developed skills in providing emotional support, information and advocacy.
- Ability to work alongside mental health professionals in a non-clinical role.
- Excellent networking, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
